A 25-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened with rape and death in a ‘horrific’ attack as she walked through Manchester city centre during the morning rush.
The attack took place around 8.40am on Thursday October 23, when the victim was approached by a man who grabbed hold of her throat whilst using his forearm to push her against a wall on Mirabel Street.
The offender then made repeated threats to rape and kill the woman before being disturbed by two passers-by and fleeing the scene.
Detective Constable Terry Macmillan from North Manchester division, said: “This is a particularly violent incident; this woman was subjected to a horrific and disturbing attack, which has left her traumatised.
“I am looking for anyone who witnessed the attack, I am especially keen on speaking to the two people who helped the woman.
“If you recognise the description of the man or have any information about the attack, please call us as soon as possible.”
The offender has been described 6ft tall Asian male, aged between 26 to 27, medium build with large eyes, black shaven hair, full face beard and stubble moustache.
The culprit appeared to be wearing a silver and blue watch on his left wrist, a black hooded jacket and black Nike gloves featuring the tick logo on the back.
