A knife-wielding thug who threatened a Wigan shopkeeper in a vile racist attack, claiming ‘I’ll kill every immigrant’, is being hunted by police.
The terrifying incident occurred around 8.45pm on Wednesday October 29 when the 48-year-old victim was standing outside the door of his shop on Chapel Green Road, Hindley.
As the man was smoking a cigarette he was approached and threatened by a man brandishing a large kitchen knife.
The attacker shouted: “I’ll kill everybody, all immigrants. I don’t bother if I go to jail, I’ll kill every immigrant.”
The victim then ran back inside his shop and locked the door, while the offender stood outside and made more threats.
The thug then got into the passenger seat of a gold Vauxhall Corsa being driven by a woman, which then drove off down Chapel Green Road towards George Street.
Detective Sergeant Neil Lawless said: “This is an extremely worrying incident in which the victim was lucky not to be seriously injured.
“It may be that this racist thug just intended to scare the victim, but anyone who threatens a man with a knife while shouting about killing people must be considered a serious threat to the public.
“While he is at large he remains a danger to people’s safety, so I ask that anyone who saw the incident or recognise the above description to contact police on the numbers below.”
The offender is described as white, 22-24 years old, around 6ft tall with a stocky build, a shaven head and a Wigan accent.
He was wearing a light grey t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.
