A Stockport pervert who lured young teenage girls to engage in child pornography and in return for cigarettes, money and alcohol was jailed last week.
Guy Greatorex, 25, of Woodford Road, Bramhall, was jailed for 18 months after he was found guilty of seven counts of inciting girls between 14 and 16-years-old to engage in pornography.
He was also found guilty of one count of possessing indecent images of children after officers visited a 14-year-old girl in Reddish on May 8 2012 who was believed to be at risk of exploitation.
She then told police that Greatorex had tried to contact her and friends on social networking sites for naked photos which the girls sent in return for money, alcohol and cigarettes. He then asked the girls if they wanted to be porn stars.
On May 16 2012 officers then raided Greatorex’s address where two computers, a PC tower and a laptop were seized. His phone was also found to contain 60 level one indecent images.
Detective Constable Steve Lowe, from Stockport’s Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, said: “Social networking sites like Facebook have transformed the way we interact with people and are extremely popular forums for young people to communicate with their friends.
“I want to highlight this case to stress how extremely important it is that parents and guardians are mindful of who their children are speaking to on social media sites and perhaps speak to them of the associated dangers of speaking to and sharing material with strangers.
“There are people out there like Greatorex who will use social networking to befriend vulnerable under-age girls and exploit them for their own sexual gratification.
“Please remind your children that they should only accept friend requests from people they know, never from strangers, and stress the importance of being careful with every communication they have with people on social networking.”
Greatorex was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday September 23.
