Wouldn’t It Be Loverly to get up close and personal with stunning costumes from hit Broadway musical My Fair Lady?
Well now you can as the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts show will be coming near to a Street Where You Live next month at Event City from September 12-14.
Fans of visionary milliner Philip Treacy and renowned fashion designer Jasper Conran will get the chance to admire the artistry of the costumes while perusing craft stalls from more than 80 exhibitors.
Jane Bolsover, costume coordinator for show organisers ICHF Events, said: “We are really lucky to have the fantastic costumes from My Fair Lady at the show.
“The pieces have been created by two of the greatest names and most iconic designers in British fashion.
The detailing is astounding and really showcases the craftsmanship and skill involved.
“The magnificent white feather hat and stunning black gown are particular favourites – I really could have danced all night!”
Renowned for the elaborate detailing in his hats, Philip’s My Fair Lady creations are no exception.
Floral designs made out of silk, feathers or natural straw, each hat is a work of art with some measuring more than a metre in height.
The creations are paired with sumptuous evening gowns and cloaks created by Jasper Conran for the Grand Ball scene.
The floral theme forms the basis of the rest of the show with the world’s first life-sized knitted garden, including hand-crafted blooms, bumble bees and ladybirds scuttling over a plant pot taking residence.
Created by the UK Hand Knitting Association, this unique knitted masterpiece is a sight to behold with everything from a deckchair, vegetable plot and garden shed to a pond, tasty picnic and watchful gnome.
Craft enthusiasts will also get the chance to in a free programme of quick and easy workshops, talks and demonstrations.
