Thousands of Manchester women will don fairy lights, sparklers and shimmering accessories to show cancer who’s in charge at next month’s twilight Race For Life.
The racing challenge hopes to gather a collective force of women to light up the skies of Manchester in order to raise money to find a cure for cancer.
Each year women are invited to run or even walk for family and friends afflicted by cancer, this year the run on October 25 at Boggart Hole Clough will begin at night
Area Event Manager Laura Taylor feels that the race is a great opportunity to re-engage with previous supporters of the charity and can be a great start to a night out.
She said: “This event is very close to my heart, I have worked on Race for Life for six years now, and I have seen the event grow and grow.
“The amazing sights across the finish line, the emotion, the celebration, it’s very special to me.”
Since the start of the charity in 1994, Race for Life has raised over £493million, and are determined to keep the fight against cancer alive.
Miss Taylor is calling for women to become cancer’s worst nightmare this autumn and hopes that they can walk, jog, run and even dance their way to £55,000 in Manchester alone.
She said: “Cancer can affect anyone at anytime, but it’s time to make it run scared.
“Like most families, mine has been affected by cancer. In the last few years, both my Grandmas have been diagnosed, and both have bravely fought and beaten cancer.
“Watching them go through it, definitely spurred me on to work for the charity.
“I see the amazing work the scientists do day in, day out, it is truly remarkable.”
