Men found guilty of raping boy, 14, in toilets of Manchester Debenhams

By Glen Keogh

Two men have been found guilty of raping a 14-year-old boy in the toilets of Debenhams in Manchester city centre.

Alex Wilson-Fletcher, 42, and Abdelkader El-Janabi, 55, approached the teenager in the toilets of the Arndale Centre on a Saturday afternoon last summer.

At about 5.45pm on June 2, they led him out of the Arndale Centre and forced him to go to the nearby Debenhams where he was raped.

Wilson-Fletcher, of Oldham Street, Manchester and El-Janabi of Artillery Court, Ardwick, Manchester were both convicted by a jury of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual touching at Manchester Crown Court today following a two week trial.

The pair were caught after police released CCTV images in the hope of tracking them down.

Their pictures were circulated and eventually led to their arrest – however El-Janabi denied being at the scene at all, and Wilson-Fletcher denied any involvement.

Both men were warned by the judge to expect substantial jail terms when they are sentenced on June 6.
