Amphetamine warning: Contaminated drugs may be behind deaths of two Bolton friends found minutes apart

By Glen Keogh

Contaminated drugs may have caused the deaths of two friends whose bodies were found in Bolton yesterday.

It is believed the 30-year-old man and 21-year-old woman had enjoyed a night out together and taken amphetamine.

Their deaths are said to be linked.

Detective Inspector Michael Sanderson from Bolton North INPT said that although they could not be certain the deaths were caused by amphetamine, they are concerned there may be a contaminated batch of drugs in the area.

“If anyone has recently taken drugs and feels ill, I would ask you to go to hospital for a check-up,” he added.

“I would always advise people not to take drugs as you do not know what it has been mixed with and you are getting what you pay for.  They can contain poisons or illicit chemicals that can have fatal effects.”

The body of the woman was found at 1.30pm yesterday when police were called by ambulance to a house on Buttermere Road, Farnworth.

At 2pm, the man’s body was found on Littlebrooke Close, Tonge Moor.

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5619 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
