Oasis canvas could be Half the World Away after painting stolen from Bury gallery

Gallery owners in Bury have been left crying their heart out after a one of a kind Oasis canvas painting was stolen.

The black and white painting, created by artist Olga Tsarevska Lomax, was swiped between 4.45am and 5.15am when thieves smashed through the window of MASA-UK on Bolton Street.

The painting shows all five members from early 2000 with their iconic hairstyles and front man Liam Gallagher standing in the centre.

PC Katherine Gosling said: “What the master plan behind this theft is I don’t know, but a local business has been broken into and a one of a kind piece of art work taken.

“This was the only piece taken and some might say we are therefore looking for an Oasis fan – similarly it may have been stolen to order. Regardless we are keen to find it and return it.

“If you have any information about the person responsible, have seen the artwork or are offered it, please get in touch.”

Originating from Manchester, Oasis formed in 1991, scoring eight UK number one singles, eight UK number one albums and numerous awards, before splitting in 2009.

The painting measures 80cm x 100cm and is inscribed with ‘otz2013’ on the bottom right hand corner.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 08000 555 111.
