Levenshulme rapist jailed after attacking woman, 50, in her own home

A rapist faces eight years behind bars after attacking a woman in her own home in Levenshulme.

Fiaz Ahmed, of Meldon Road, talked his way into a 50-year-old woman’s house on December 7, 2014 where he sexually assaulted and raped her.

Detective Constable Rob Kitchen expressed his feelings about the horrific incident and thanked the victim for her help in capturing her attacker.

He said: “Fiaz Ahmed is a predator who saw his opportunity to prey on a vulnerable woman and took it without giving a second thought to the traumatic effect it would have on his victim.

“I understand that it won’t change what happened but I hope the sentence passed here today will go some way to giving the victim some closure.”

Ahmed, 33, has been sentenced for eight years in prison and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life today at Manchester Crown Square.

“I would like to pay her a huge tribute for the strength that she has shown throughout this investigation and thank her for the absolutely vital assistance that she has given us to help take this man off the streets.” He added.

The attacker, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the assault, spotted the vulnerable woman when she was on a walk near her house.

He approached his female victim and tried to engage in conversation but was ignored at the first time.

A persistent Ahmed approached her again and grabbed hold of the woman’s arm, preventing her from making an escape.

The victim pleaded with him to let her go once they arrived at her door step but he soon and convinced her to let him inside.

Once he gained access to the house, he sexually abused and raped the victim before escaping through the window when a council security patrol turned up who was alerted by a concerned neighbour.
