A suspected burglar was found dead by police in Crumpsall on Sunday morning after officers were called to a possible break in at a solicitor’s office.
The man, who has not been named, had sustained severe leg injuries and was found in the front garden of a house on Delaunays Road.
Officers were called to Deen Wahid Solicitors at 4.10am, following a 999 call reporting a burglary in progress.
It is believed the man may have staggered across the road and into the garden directly opposite.
Detective Superintendent Joanne Rawlinson said: “I am confident that this man is in some way connected to a possible break-in at the solicitors.”
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody.
She added: “Detectives are working to establish how this man came by his injuries. I would like to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything unusual overnight in Delaunays Road.”
The road surrounding the solicitors was sealed off yesterday and a forensic tent was erected in the front garden of the house.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours near the junction with Crumpsall Lane.
A post-mortem examination due to be carried out today is expected to shed light on the cause of his death.
