New cosmetic procedures in unusual parts of the body

As the cosmetic surgery industry increases in popularity and demand, so do the procedures and treatments on offer.

We’re seeing more unusual procedures, such as freckle removal, knee peels and calf implants, grow in popularity due to people seeking physical ‘perfection’.

One of the least ‘unusual’ procedures on the list is calf implants. Many people help strengthen and define the muscles of their legs through healthy eating and exercise, however, all the hard work doesn’t always pay off.

For some people, their lower legs remain out of proportion when compared with the rest of their physique, and as such they seek assistance; calf implants help increase the size of your calves and are usually silicone based.

In addition to our bodies, faces are also seeing more unusual treatments brought to the fore of the cosmetic surgery sector. Freckle removal is another fashion trend that is reshaping and changing the aesthetics of the beauty world. According to the Daily Mail, the procedure is a laser treatment, and works by lightening the skin.

It can also be used as an aid to getting rid of fine lines and acne scars. The energy that is emitted from the laser is designed to encourage the darker skin pigmentation to fade over time and due to the lack of evasiveness, the ‘downtime’ after each treatment is lessened, as it the pain.

Also making headlines is the knee peel, a treatment that is similar to the face peels so many of us have heard of and even tried. Just as many women seek to even out the skin tone on their face, other women are opting to have skin peels on their knees in order to do the same.

The most common reason for this is that women with darker skin tones tend to have darker skin on areas such as the knees and elbows and Caucasian women tend to have pink knees. The procedure itself is very simple and uses an exfoliation process to remove the top layer of skin to reveal more radiant, renewed skin underneath.

Continuing with the more unusual problematic areas, earlobes are also becoming a hot topic area within the beauty industry, with the ‘ear-tox’ gaining steady popularity with women over 40. This technique uses dermal fillers to invigorate your ears and give your earlobes youthful plumpness. Alongside our ears, our feet are also beginning to have some extra work done in the form of ‘Cinderella surgery’.

The cleverly named treatment involves having Botox injections into the balls of the feet in order to cushion the soft tissue of the area, which in turn allows better comfort when wearing high heels.

The above mentioned treatments are evidence that the cosmetic surgery industry is still flourishing and helping people to improve their confidence. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that procedures such as these should be taken lightly, as with all surgery proper medical advice is always the best way to learn about a procedure, especially relatively new ones.
