A gang of brazen robbers wielding axes and hammers stormed a Cheetham Hill jewellery shop in broad daylight on Friday fleeing with handfuls of gold.
Four men raided the pawnbrokers armed with the terrifying weapons between 9.45am and 10am on June 21 with one man holding up the shutter at the entrance as the others smashed up the cabinets.
The men then fled in a black Skoda Octavia registration X167 FBU that was parked on Thomas Street.
Detective Constable Nick Boardman from North Manchester division, said: “This was a brazen robbery in broad daylight, thankfully no-one was injured, but the staff have been left terrified by the incident.
“There were a lot of people in the area on Friday morning who must have witnessed the robbery. I would urge them to contact us.
“I also want to hear from anyone who saw the offenders get into the getaway car or it being abandoned as well as anyone who might be offered the jewellery for sale.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
