Manchester legends Oasis are re-releasing their debut album Definitely Maybe –yet the news has been met with disappointment from fans who were hoping the band were re-forming.
An announcement was made this morning confirming the iconic album would be re-mastered to celebrate its 20th Anniversary.
Fans were left upset by the news though after a frenzy of speculation on social media sites before the announcement suggested the band might be re-forming.
Daniel James took to Twitter and said: “Is that it? Just to line their pockets more! Why not give the fans what they want and get back together!!!”
Molly Rees also showed her disappointment. “I wanted Oasis to reform so badly! #sadtimes,” she said.
The album, released in 1994, was an instant commercial and critical success becoming the fastest selling album at the time of release.
It sold more than 15million copies worldwide and featured memorable tracks such as Live Forever and Supersonic.
Prior to the announcement, many people had taken expressed their excitement at the possibility of the band re-forming with Steven Thomas tweeting: “Looking forward to this more than anything #Oasis Announcement.”
@becssss said: “Genuinely nervous for this oasis announcement, please god let it be a tour.”
@sonikkicks posted: “Oasis announcement at 9. I don’t want to get myself over excited for a reunion, but that would be the best thing in the world, ever #oasis.”
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher notoriously fell-out 2009 eventually causing Noel to leave the band to pursue a solo-career with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
The album is set for re-release on May 19.
