Motorists are facing heavy delays on the M66 southbound as a multi-vehicle accident brought the motorway to a standstill this morning.
There are still long delays between Junction 1 (Ramsbottom) and J2 (Bury) as one lane remains closed due to the accident.
Commuters are being warned that their journey could take up to 45 minutes. There is also Congestion on A56 Edenfield Bypass to the A56 junction.
Traffic was congested with queues backing up all the way to Rawtenstall.
