Disgraced former BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been charged with 15 historic offences of rape and one of indecent assault on two young girls aged between 11 and 16 in Manchester.
Hall, 83, was jailed in June after admitting 14 counts of sexual assault against girls aged from nine to 17 between 1967 and 1985, and is currently serving a 30 months jail sentence.
The broadcaster will appear at Preston Magistrates on November 8 for the alleged abuse which began in 1976 and ended in 1981.
One of the girls was allegedly assaulted between the ages of 11 or 12 and 15 and the other while aged between 14 and 16.
Nazir Afzal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “Following a careful review, we have decided that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute Stuart Hall for 16 alleged sexual offences against two girls and that it is in the public interest to do so.
“May I remind all concerned that Mr Hall has a right to a fair trial. It is very important that nothing is said which could prejudice that trial. For these reasons, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.”
