London sword attack: On 30 April a man crashed a van into a pedestrian in Hainault, London before attacking people with a sword. A 14-year-old boy, Daniel Anjorin was killed and four others were killed. Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, was arrested at the scene after being tasered and tackled by police officers.
Israeli air strikes: The Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes on Iran. The Israelis targeted an air defence facility near Isfahan, central Iran. The attack was a response to the Iranian drone and missile strikes in Israel only one week prior.
Leverkusen win the league in Germany: Bayer Leverkusen won their first Bundesliga title in a league campaign that saw Die Werkself go unbeaten, the first team in history to do so. This was the club’s first major trophy since 1993 as Xabi Alonso’s side recorded a record of 28 wins, six draws and zero losses.
Taylor Swift’s new album breaks records: Taylor Swift released her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. The album broke several records including the highest single-day and single-week streams for an album on Spotify as it went onto top charts in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
Co-op Live opening delayed: Manchester’s newest indoor arena, Co-op Live was set to open in April but was forced to push back their anticipated opening to May. After a test event on April 20, power issues disrupted the concert featuring Rick Astley forcing the opening date to be pushed back.
