Three infamous Mancunian drag queens took the plunge for the ultimate hair and make-up test ahead of this weekend’s Manchester Pride Festival.
Renowned Miss Billie Jean, Miss Colleen Mcolon and Misty Chance all took part in Europe’s first underwater walk Sea TREK with carefully-coiffed beehive dos and full make-up.
The drag divas came up close and personal with black tip reef sharks and Ernie the giant sea turtle as they tottered along the sea bed.
Speaking about the experience, Miss Colleen Mcolon said: “The sharks were staying away a nice reasonable distance.”
Wearing specially-designed helmets the three queens put their hair and make-up through the ultimate test and discovered that their heavily-applied waterproof mascara lived up to its name.
With only a slight case of helmet hair it seemed that all three drag queens enjoyed the experience.
Miss Billie Jean said: “Absolutely loved it, it was great.”
Miss Colleen Mcolon revealed: “I felt a bit funny when I first got down there but it was really, really good.”
The test was to see whether their make-up would be resistant enough for the up-coming Pride weekend.
The annual Manchester Pride Festival will run this bank holiday weekend (August 23-26) and raises money for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and the HIV community.
The new Manchester Sea Life Centre is home to an array of tropical and colourful sea creatures from clown fish to octopi.
The hour and ten minutes underwater walk, allowing a maximum of five people per group, the new attraction is sure to be popular with aquatic fans.
All that is needed is a swimming costume and towel as the essential equipment will be provided with an experienced diver accompanying each group.
The centre, which is situated at the Trafford Centre, will be open from 10am to 7pm every day.
