Police are investigating after shots were fired at a house in Swinton last night.
Officers were called to an address on Blantyre Street shortly before 11.50pm to a report of a firearm discharge.
Armed police were deployed to the scene and discovered damage to a door that was consistent with a shotgun being fired at it.
A man wearing a balaclava had been seen leaving the scene in a dark coloured car.
No-one was injured and the scene has been secured for forensic examination and inquiries are on-going.
Detective Chief Inspector Clare Devlin from Salford division, said: “We are at the early stages of our inquiries, but at this stage we do not believe this was a random attack and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the community.
“Fortunately no-one was injured, but they easily could have been and we have a team of detectives working to find out who is responsible.
“If you saw a dark car in the area of Blantyre Street around midnight last night or you have any information that you believe would be useful to the investigation than please come forward and speak to ourselves.”
