Parklife attack: Man, 31, arrested in connection with death of Robert Hart

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Robert Hart, who died following an attack at Parklife two weeks ago.

Robert Hart, 26, from Macclesfield, suffered fatal head injuries after being attacked as he danced with his girlfriend, Gemma Parry, at the Parklife Weekender in Heaton Park on June 7.

Two off-duty medics who were also at the event gave Robert CPR before he was rushed to hospital. He died four days later in hospital after suffering a bleed to the brain.

Last week, Parklife organisers have offered a £20,000 reward for information which leads the authorities to identifying the attacker and convicting him for the crime.

On Saturday morning, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Cheshire on suspicion of Robert’s death. He remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Richard Eales of Greater Manchester Police said: “Over the last two weeks, we have received a huge amount support by both the public and the media for the appeal to help find the person responsible.

“We now have a man in custody but that doesn’t mean the investigation is at an end. We are continuing to investigate and we are renewing our appeal for information or any relevant footage.”

Anyone with information can contact the incident room direct on 0161 85 69283 or email the incident room on [email protected] with any relevant footage.
