The man who has accused ex-Manchester United manager David Moyes of attacking him said he ‘felt like he was going to die’.
Builder Josh Gillibrand, 23, has alleged Moyes grabbed him around the neck and threw him to the floor in a during a bar-room brawl in Clitheroe.
Mr Gillibrand told The Sun that tables were ‘flying everwhere’ and galss was ‘all over the place’ when the sacked United boss allegedly attacked him on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old, who was drinking with friend Dan Houlker, was treated in hospital for concussion and a bloody nose after the alleged incident.
“It was a total surprise. He grabbed me round the neck and struck me in the back of the head,” he said.
“I ended up face-down on the floor. I felt like I was going to die. There were tables flying everywhere and glass all over the place.”
Moyes, 51, was dismissed by Manchester United last month after only ten months since replacing Sir Alex Ferguson.
It is understood Moyes had been socialising with friends at the Emporium bar in Clitheroe, Lancashire, shortly after being abused by a group of drunken young men.
Mr Gillibrand, from nearby Dutton, denied that he or his friend were involved in the abuse.
Police said they have spoken to a number of people to help establish what happened on the night in question.
It is believed police are viewing CCTV footage to try and shed further light on the incident.
The police spokesman said: “There are a number of differing accounts which we need to work through to try to establish exactly what has happened. No-one has been arrested at this stage.”
