A man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder after Jabeen Younis was found at her Oldham home with multiple stab wounds and her throat cut.
Officers were called to an address on Bamford Street shortly after 10am on Friday following reports of a ‘concern for welfare’.
They found the body of the 30-year-old mum-of-two who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday.
Late last night, police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of murder – he remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Terry Crompton from the Major Incident Team investigating this death, said: “Since Farkhanda’s body was found on Friday morning, a team of detectives have been carrying out substantial enquiries to establish exactly what happened to this young woman and why and these enquiries remain ongoing.
“Officers are continuing to support Farkhanda’s family at what is clearly a most traumatic time for them, as they try to come to terms with their loss. We are determined to provide them with the full answers around her untimely death.”
Jabeen, also known as Farkhanda Younis, died from her stab wounds, a Home Office post mortem examination said.
The 20-year-old woman remains on bail until tomorrow pending further enquiries.
