A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a young mum was found with her throat slashed in Oldham.
Shortly after 10am on Friday, police were called to reports of a ‘concern for welfare’ at an address on Bamford Street.
When officers attended, they found the body of Jabeen Younis, 30, with multiple stab wounds – it is thought her young son may have been with her when she was killed.
Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh who is leading the murder investigation, said: “We have made significant progress with our investigation since Friday but this work is very much ongoing.
“Our thoughts remain with Jabeen’s family at this very distressing time and we are determined to provide them with the full answers around her untimely death.”
A 20-year-old woman was arrested in the Oldham area on Saturday on suspicion of murder.
Police have asked local residents not to fear for their own safety following the incident, however there will be extra patrols around Bamford Street to provide reassurance.
The woman arrested has been bailed until Thursday pending further enquiries.
Miss Younis, who also has a nine-year-old daughter, moved to Oldham from Pakistan around ten years ago.
