Piccadilly Gardens remains shaken by the bus crash earlier this week which killed one and left 11 others injured.
The crash on Monday afternoon saw a single-decker Diamond bus plough into the T4 Café in the City Tower building.
Almena Amica, 77, from south Manchester died a short time after being taken to hospital.
Though the area is no longer cordoned off, the destroyed café has since been boarded up, with floral tributes to Almena fastened to the shop front.
Muhammad Haris Naseem, the manager of Tegtat Cafe – which is next door to the T4 tea room site – was working as the event unfolded.
The 28-year-old said: “I was at the till and I just heard something crash… [it was] a long noise.
“Emergency services were there within five minutes.”
Though only a few yards from the accident, Muhammad said that he still feels safe at work, despite adding: “Maybe they should make the pavements higher. [Perhaps if they were higher] if the bus had crashed it wouldn’t have crossed into the store.”
Police confirmed the 64-year-old driver of the bus was arrested for dangerous driving and later bailed.
