Iconic outfits from some of the world’s biggest music stars will be displayed at Manchester’s Hard Rock Café at The Printworks later this month.
Music fans will get the chance to get up close and personal with Madonna’s famous conical corset worn on her 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour, the red leather jacket worn my Michael Jackson in the Beat It music video and a prison jacket worn by Elvis Presley in the film Jailhouse Rock.
The Hard Rock Couture exhibition chronicles the influence that musicians and singers have had on fashion starting with the rock ‘n’ roll explosion of the 1950s through to modern day.
Hard Rock Historian and tour curator Jeff Nolan said that he and the team had spent nearly two years scouring the 77,000-piece Hard Rock collection to create a capsule wardrobe of 20 for the exhibition.
He said: “The collection showcases a unique part of music history and gives fans an opportunity to see that history first-hand.”
One of Lady Gaga’s wacky ensembles will be on display alongside a black and white spandex catsuit worn by Freddie Mercury on Queen’s 1978 Jazz tour and items from The Killers, The Who, Kiss and Katy Perry.
Fred Booth, Centre Director of The Printworks, said: “We are very pleased that such an important collection of pop-culture will be here at The Printworks for music lovers all over Greater Manchester to come and enjoy.”
The exhibition will be on public display at Hard Rock Café, The Printworks, Manchester from August 30 to September 8 and is free of charge.
