To mark International Women’s Day, on the 8th of March a poetry event with an all female-lineup took place in Manchester.
Aviva Studios collaborated with the Manchester-based spoken word organisation the Poetry Place, for an afternoon of poems celebrating and honouring female voices.
The Poetry Place offers workshops to aspiring poets, along with events and open mics to share creative work in the North West.
The event at Aviva Studios was hosted by Poetry Place founder and spoken word poet Griot Gabriel, along with fellow poet, musician and filmmaker PA Bitez.
The afternoon at Aviva Studios consisted of poems from featured headliner punk poet Jay Mitra, along with other poets such as Lol, Lisa Moore and Janel Antoneshia.
In a series of empowering poems, a celebration of all things female took place through topics ranging from ageing, women’s rights, hormones and more.
