A spate of violent muggings in Rusholme this month has seen a number of young men verbally threatened and attacked for their belongings.
There have been 13 street robberies in Victoria Park since July 24 between 4.30pm and 12.20am where it is believed up to four Asian men have launched attacks on innocent male victims.
The offenders, aged between 18 and 25 years old use physical and verbal assault to rob mobile phones, watches and wallets.
Detective Inspector John Harris, of Longsight INPT, said: “These young men have been attacked and robbed and, while none of them suffered serious injuries, they will be bearing the mental scars for some time.
“They have all been targeted as they walked home alone, sometimes having been out drinking, and they have had no chance to react when they’ve been accosted by up to four men.
“I want to take the opportunity to remind people walking in this area to be vigilant and be careful to keep their property out of sight.
“I would ask anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
