HOME is celebrating its first birthday with a series of events this weekend.
The arts space, which attracted its millionth visitor this week, united Cornerhouse and the Library Theatre when it first opened its doors last May.
To mark the occasion, HOME will host art exhibitions, film previews, family theatre and DJ sets from May 20 – 22.
“We’d be nothing without our audiences and visitors,” Sheena Wrigley, Executive Director at HOME told MM.
“People seem to have a real sense of ownership of the new building, and have had from day one.
“We want to encourage that, we are really keen to foster a dialogue between audiences, creators, artists, and producers.

“We are hoping the music, performances and parties will attract a large amount of visitors this weekend.”
Just some of today’s events include a double bill of theatre in the form of Gutted and Late Night Love.
Saturday’s offerings include a workshop for young people, sculpture lessons and a rooftop party with live music and food.
On Sunday, HOME will host the premiere of Queer As Yolk, a new take on the Manchester classic Queer As Folk by Eggs Collective.
The final day of celebrations will also include family theatre show The Butterfly’s Adventure, a DJ set from HOME’s Artistic Director Jason Wood, and a screening of Hollywood blockbuster E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.
“The programme is distinctive – it’s very contemporary – often a bit edgy and a bit quirky, and definitely designed to get people talking and thinking,” said Sheena.
