A Manchester restaurateur is on a mission to restore family dining as a survey has revealed that only 2% of homes enjoy a Sunday roast together.
The classic dish was once a culinary staple in British homes but the Welsh Lamb results have now prompted Amba restaurant in Hale to give it pride of place once more.
Manager Ryland Wakeham is encouraging people to don their chef hats, cook up a storm and savour their lovingly-cooked meat and two veg.
He said: “Sunday roasts are a British tradition and it’s shocking to hear of their decline.
“Food is a great way to bring families together to spend quality time and catch up on each other’s lives. It’s an institution worth fighting for.”
But for any reluctant cooks out there fear not as help is at hand in the form of Amba’s Sunday dinner menu.
“Many people are daunted by cooking a roast, but it really is a simple meal to make.
“For those who don’t want to put on their aprons we’re committed to serving family Sunday roasts.”
Now families are being offered the chance to win a Sunday dinner, cooked by the restaurant’s head chef.
To enter the competition Amba diners can tweet or upload a picture to Facebook of them enjoying their family roast at the neighbourhood eatery.
