Graves in the grounds of a church in Bolton have been damaged on two separate occasions over the past week.
At 7:30AM on Thursday 8 October, police had received a report that several graves at St Peter’s, Church Road had been damaged.
An investigation was launched and police completed house-to house enquiries and CCTV searches, whilst extra officers were deployed to patrol the area.
At 12:35PM on Thursday 15 October, police received another report that further graves had been damaged since Tuesday 13 October.
Inspector David Johnston, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “I am disgusted by what has happened.”
An investigation is underway, Inspector Johnson assures that his team will work hard to identify the offenders and ensure they face justice.
Inspector Johnson added: “I would encourage them to think about how they would feel if the grave belonged to one of their loved ones.”
Police are encouraging people to get into contact if they have any information which may support their investigation as soon as possible, so they can prevent any further incidents.
