Next stop, justice: CCTV footage shows bumbling teen fall from bus after bungled Salford robbery

The following footage shows a bungled robbery when a hooded teen demanded cash from a Manchester bus driver – then fall off the vehicle empty-handed.

CCTV footage released by detectives in Salford shows the attempted robbery on Thursday September 4 at around 10.40pm on the number 36 bus, travelling along Kenyon Way towards Peel Lane.

The driver stopped at the bus stop close to Wildbrook Road when the two men waited for their opportunity to pounce.

One of the men entered the bus then produced a knife before demanding money from the driver, who instinctively put his foot on the accelerator and close the doors, causing the second man to drag the fumbling robber’s off the bus.

The bumbling duo then ran off towards the fields close to Ashawe Terrance.

Detective Constable Kevin Oakes from Salford division, said: “This teenager thought he could get on a bus and make threats towards the driver hoping he would hand over the money from his fares.

“However, the bus driver drove off forcing the man to fall to the floor and off the bus empty handed.

“The CCTV from the bus is extremely clear and we are urging people to take a close look and if you recognise the person in the footage please contact us.”

The man who got on the bus is described as white; about 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall; of medium build; in his teens. He was wearing a parka type brown coat with fur around the hood.
