A Manchester man who is suspected of scrawling ‘Lee Rigby’s killers should hang’ on the RAF Bomber Command War Memorial in London has been arrested.
The 20-year-old was held at his home last Tuesday on suspicion of an act of criminal damage which took place at the memorial in Green Park on June 5.
This is the second time the memorial – which was created to remember the 55, 573 RAF crew who lost their lives in World War Two – has been vandalized since the horrific murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, London, on May 22.
In the first incident on May 27 the word ‘Islam’ was written across the monument.
After the second attack on the memorial, Crimestoppers announced that it was offering a reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
In a similar incident red graffiti was found on The Animals in War monument in Hyde Park, which cost £2million and honours animals that served and died in the British military.
Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
