Sacha Lord releases a five-point plan to “Save Hospitality”

The Night-time economy advisor for Greater Manchester, announced a five-point plan to save “UK’s 5th biggest sector” – Hospitality.

In a packed room at the Labour conference, Sacha Lord announced a plan to reduce insecurities in the hospitality industry.

Lord is the Night Time Economy Advisor for Greater Manchester. In this role he assists Mayor Andy Burnham with legislation regarding the hospitality industry.

The Founder of Warehouse Project said: “It’s now time for action and not just words, to save the UKs 5th biggest sector.”

He advises that VAT on the hospitality industry be reduced from 20% to 12.5% – as higher VAT has a negative effect on the industry.

Moreover, he also advocates for increasing support for the industry, devolving licensing laws, Ofgem to reduce energy costs of restaurants, and introducing a hospitality T-Level.

Lord got support from others on the panel such as Lucy Powell, MP for Manchester Central.

She said: “We want to reform business rates so it’s not just bricks and mortar businesses that pay it.”
