Manchester Muslims will get the chance to enjoy late night shopping next week in the run up to Eid.
For the first time ever stores within the Heart of Manchester Business Improvement District (BID) will keep their shutters open for longer to mark the end of Ramadan.
Many shops, including Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Debenhams, will open until 9pm on July 25 and 26, some stores running promotions and in-store events.
House of Fraser store manager Anne Latham explained that last year they saw a rise in sales in the weeks leading up to Eid across clothing and gifts.
She said: “We will be joining in the celebrations again this year by having two late-night shopping events the weekend before so that our customers have the opportunity to come and pick up any last minute gifts.”
Eid marks the end of Ramadan – the Islamic holy month of fasting – and observers traditionally give presents to each other.
Manchester Arndale’s NCP will be offering an evening rate after 5pm while buses and trams will be servicing all major routes across the city.
