Staff and punters were threatened with a shotgun and axe by two masked men during a terrifying raid on a betting shop in Burnage this week.
At around 7.35pm on Tuesday, the offenders walked into Coral on Fog Lane and walked up to the counter where staff were working.
One of the men pointed the gun underneath the glass screen and demanded they opened the door.
He was let in while the other man, who was holding an axe, demanded customers face the wall.
Money was put into a black rucksack before both left on foot in the direction of the railway bridge.
No one was injured.
The man with the shotgun is described as wearing a balaclava, black lightweight rain jacket that had a white motif on the right hand side, black hooded top with the hood up, black gloves, black tracksuit bottoms and dark shoes or trainers.
The second man is described as wearing a black balaclava, black hooded top with the hood up, black gloves, black tracksuit bottoms with a motif on the left hand side and dark shoes or trainers.
Detective Constable Ailsa Pearson, based at Didsbury, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have been close to the bookies or in the area of Brayside and Westcroft Road between 7pm and 8pm that day to think back. Did you see anything unusual or these men walk in or out of the shop?
“Although the men left on foot, we believe they may have walked down a path that runs parallel to the railway line and may have got into a car.
“If you saw them get into this car or have any information you believe may help us with our investigation, I would urge you to contact us.”
