A ‘violent thug’ who punched his heavily pregnant teen partner in the stomach, causing her to lose her baby has been sentenced to four years and eight months in a young offender’s institute.
Dusan Bako, 18, of Copster Hill Road in Oldham, admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Manchester Crown Court today.
Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington, said: “This is an exceptionally tragic case that resulted in a 16-year-old girl losing her baby.
“Bako’s incomprehensible actions have left the victim understandably distraught in a way I cannot begin to comprehend or imagine.”
Bako went to the house of his then 16-year-old girlfriend, who was seven months pregnant, at 3.15pm on Thursday August 14 last year.
He asked her to come outside and speak to him.
Once outside Bako became aggressive and grabbed her by the arm, dragging her into nearby Copster Hill Park.
He then punched her in the stomach. The girl was taken to hospital but later lost the baby.
DCI Millington added: “The victim has been very brave in supporting the police investigation and ensuring a violent thug has been brought to justice for his heinous crime.
“To punch a heavily pregnant girl in the stomach is as unthinkable as it is deplorable and I can only say that I hope today’s sentence brings some closure to the girl and her family.”
