A harrowing attack in which a woman was beaten, scalded with hot tea and aerosol sprayed in her eyes before being raped has seen a Wythenshawe man convicted today.
Carl Anthony Weston, 43, was convicted of rape, assault and false imprisonment for the brutal attack on December 23.
The attack began when Weston was confronted over an unpaid drug debt of £600.
Weston and the victim, who knew one another, then went to a house between 11pm and midnight and demanded that she help him pay the debt.
When the victim told him she did not have enough money he punched her in the mouth which split her upper lip up to her nose.
He continued to beat her and dragged her onto the sofa where he sprayed deodorant in her eyes and poured scalding hot tea over her head.
He then hit her with a dust pan brush and strangled her while shouting insults to her. He then proceeded to rape her and prevented her from leaving the house and seeking medical assistance.
She eventually managed to escape and confided in a friend.
Weston will be sentenced on 6 February 2014 at Manchester Crown Court Crown Square.
He was also convicted of a separate count of false imprisonment relating to an offence in Lancashire area.
