As of last Friday, MediaCityUK is the home to a new magical ice rink that is the spectacular centrepiece to a range of festive activities, including a Christmas market and light festival.
The 500sq ft ice rink can accommodate up to 200 skaters at a time and the unique festive experience has something for every member of the family. From penguin helpers for the little ones to mulled wine for mum and dad.
The ice rink features ‘The Retreat’ bar, a winter cabin decorated in fairy lights and Christmas trees as far as the eye can see, complete with wooden bench seating and lots of warm nooks in which to snuggle up, the perfect escape from the cold to admire the rink from afar.
The bar offers a range of ‘liquid treats for skaters and non-skaters alike’ with hot cider, homemade mulled wine, draft beers, wine, a range of soft drinks, teas and coffees, hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream and of course, hot Vimto on tap . The retreat is open to everyone, not just those skating.
The bar offers a happy hour Monday – Friday 5pm-7pm with selected drinks priced at just £3.50.
The rink will bring a premium skating experience to Salford Quays and will be run by Blue Martini Group, who have vast experience in running pop up festive rinks in Manchester.
Blue Martini Group’s Jason Williams said: “We are thrilled to be working with Peel Group to bring out premium Manchester Ice Rink skating experience to MediaCityUK. The rink along with The Retreat will be a fantastic addition to the festive fun happening down at the Quays.”
The rink and retreat are easily accessible by tram and road transport links, making it the perfect winter escape from the madness of the city centre.
Whether you’re looking for a magical destination for the family, the perfect after work festive experience, a weekend out with friends or something to do after the theatre – Manchester Ice Rink at MediaCityUK is your one stop winter wonderland.
