MM reporters spoke to the people of Manchester who came out to see Prince Andrew and Sophie pay a visit in tribute to the Queen.
Brian and Keeley McPhail, 64 and 46, teachers from Wigan, came to see the Royal couple as they couldn’t make the trip to London today.
“The fact that he’s visited Manchester is a great honour for the city,” said Keeley.
Dorothy Clements, 96, and Dawn Walker, 59 visited from Warrington. Dawn said: “We didn’t expect to get so close to them, it was just so special.”
Barbara Frederickson, 68, and Ruth Topping, 70, were already planning to come into Manchester to pay their respects – and then discovered royal visitors were on their way.
Shelby Russell, 19, Wythenshawe, wanted to pay tribute to “the nation’s nana”.
Chris Brooks, Ashton-under-Lyne, said: “I like traditional values, and there aren’t many traditional values left other than the monarchy.”
Clare Taylor, Barnsley, said Prince Edward is his favourite royal having met him once before.
