Prince Edward thanked mourners during a visit to Manchester today and said: “We’ve all lost someone.”
The Earl and Countess of Wessex were in the city – ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday – to view tributes.
The couple started in the Central Library, viewing the book of condolences where Manchester residents have been writing their messages for the Queen and the Royal family.
They then moved to St Ann’s Square to lay flowers and meet those gathering to pay their respects. Prince Edward thanked the crowds for their support and offered consolations.
He told one group of mourners, “We’ve all lost someone. We really appreciate it, thank you for your support.”
Prince Edward, accompanied by wife Sophie, moved on to Manchester Cathedral where he lit a candle in memory of his mother.
