Andy Burnham has thanked Prince Edward and Sophie for travelling to Manchester today.
The Greater Manchester Mayor was at Manchester Central Library with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, less than 24 hours after the Royal couple had followed the Queen’s coffin to Westminster where she is lying-in-state until Monday’s funeral.
Mr Burnham said: “Their Royal Highnesses said they were here to send a message: it’s about all parts of the country as well, and so I thank them for that.”
