Internationally-renowned artist Jon Burgerman, whose work has been showcased with artists such as Banksy and Damien Hirst, has donated his artwork to a charity auction in aid of Manchester-charity Factory Youth Zone.
Bergman’s work, which has also shared the stage with pieces by Vivienne Westwood and Gerald Scarfe, will be auctioned alongside artwork created by children at the Harpurhey centre as well as artwork donated by local artists on October 13.
The auction has been organised by the Manchester based company 3 Door Digital as part of the Factory 100 Business Challenge inviting 100 Manchester businesses to each raise £1000 for the children’s centre.
“The majority of companies have simply asked clients to add on extra money to their invoices but I wanted to do something different,” Anna Moss, 3 Door Digital’s Co-Founder, said.
“After seeing some of the art work that the kids had done at the centre I wanted to showcase this and other great artists.
“I thought by doing an art auction it would be a fun and unique evening that would not only bring more awareness to Factory Youth Zone but to the artists and others donating work for the event.”
Warburtons have also donated a hamper of goodies to raffle off and the Museum of Science and Industry have donated four 4D tickets for their theatre.
City centre bar, The Liquor Store, has also created a bespoke cocktail and a catering company have donated canapés and nibbles for the event. Ms Moss’ said, ‘The generosity of people has been overwhelming’.
Since taking up the Factory 100 Business Challenge she has helped out at the centre and seen first-hand the impressive activities and mentoring the charity offers disadvantaged children.
“After deciding to be one of the companies involved with the challenge, I arranged to go and have a visit and a tour around the centre in Harpurhey and it blew me away,” she said.
“The activities and mentoring programmes they provide for the kids is remarkable and I knew I wanted to become more involved.”
The auction will be held from 19:00 to 23:00. Tickets cost £10 and can be ordered online here.
