Stockport bus attack: Four arrested following despicable assault on 66-year-old disabled man

By Marios Papaloizou

Police have made four arrests following  an appeal for public help after shocking images of a 66-year-old disabled man being assaulted at a bus station in Stockport were released to the public.

The man suffered bruising to his body after being assaulted at the Daw Bank bus station in November.

Four teenagers, two aged 15 andn two aged 16, have now been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Inspector Julia Bowden urged the public to allow justice to run its course following an outcry at the crime.

“I know feelings continue to run high but I cannot stress how important it is that the judicial process is allowed to run its course and that these boys are not subjected to trial by social media.”

She added that the four people were quickly identified following an appeal for information.

All four have not been bailed until January 23 pending further enquiries.

DI Bowden added: “All have been interviewed and have cooperated with the police investigation. A file of evidence shall now be considered by the CPS.”
