E-fit appeal to Manchester Arndale shoppers after woman robbed by trio

Manchester Arndale shoppers who may hold vital information about a robbery involving a male trio who snatched a woman’s mobile are being urged to come forward by police.

The incident occurred on Tuesday January 6, at around 4pm, when the 42-year-old woman was walking on High Street, towards Shudehill bus and tram station.

The men approached her and ordered her to hand over her handbag as she reached the entrance of the multi-storey High Street car park.

One of the men attempted to grab the bag, spilling the contents, but they were still able to grab her money and mobile phone before running away in the direction of Shudehill.

Police Constable Paul Eastham of City Centre division said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and we want to find the men as soon as possible.

“Thankfully the woman was not hurt, but she is understandably shaken.

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man pictured in the E-fit to contact police immediately.”

Police have released an E-fit of one of the criminals, who is described as black, roughly 6ft 2in tall and in his late 20s/early 30s.

He is said to be of stocky build and had piercing blue eyes; possibly contact lenses. He was wearing a scarf covering the lower part of his face and all black clothing.

The two other men were said to be black and around 5ft 8in tall. One was described to be in his early 20s, the other late 20s or early 30s, and both were wearing all black clothing.

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 3912 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
