Caged: Life sentence for vicious murderer of Levenshulme man following ‘street row’

A murderer has been sentenced to life in prison today following a brutal and unexplained attack on an innocent 40-year-old man in Levenshulme.

The victim Glen Delaney suffered such savage injuries to his face after a ‘street row’ that he later died in hospital.

David Gray, 29, of Barlow Road pleaded guilty to the murder of Glen Delaney at Manchester Crown Square and was sentenced to life in prison to serve a minimum of 14 years.

The attack took place on Thursday May 30 when emergency services were called to Barlow Road at around 6.45pm following an altercation.

On arrival the victim Glen Delaney was found with severe facial injuries. He was immediately rushed to hospital but later died.

Investigating Officer Martin Rigby from the Major Incident Team said: “The man responsible is now behind bars and I hope this sentence brings some comfort to his family and friends.

“This was a vicious and unprovoked attack and his injuries were so severe they proved fatal.”
