Stoke-on-Trent shed reaches final of national competition with homemade pub

A father-and-son duo have reached the finals of the 2022 Shed of the Year competition after spending six years creating a homemade pub.

Andrew and James Tittensor of Westbury Park, Stoke-on-Trent, slowly built their “pride and joy” garden pub and named it The Winchester Tavern after one of their favourite movies, Brit-comedy Shaun of the Dead.

James said: “We wanted somewhere to sit down, have a nice cold pint and wait for it all to blow over, and we’re Shaun of the Dead fans so what better name than The Winchester Tavern.”

It has been built using items bought online – mainly through Facebook Marketplace and eBay.

Hundreds of sheds are entered into the annual Shed of the Year competition and Andrew and James are in the final three in the pub/entertainment category, as well as the final 21 overall entries.

Public voting closes on July 15 and the overall winner will be announced in August.
