How the city-region will remember the fallen this Remembrance Sunday

This Sunday the country will remember those who have fallen whilst in service by holding two minutes’ silence.

At 11:00 am on Sunday, Manchester city centre will welcome thousands of people to the cenotaphs for a service of remembrance.

Services are being held at John Dalton Street and St Peter’s Square cenotaphs.

A parade will head towards St Peter’s Square before the silence, starting at 10:25am from John Dalton Street.

At 11:00am the silence will be marked by a gunshot and will finish in the same way two minutes later.

When the service has come to an end the parade will carry on to the Central Library, where the national anthem will be played.

For the first time for over half a century, God Save the King will be sung on Remembrance Sunday.

Tram lines will be suspended via St Peter’s Square between 10:15am and 12:30pm, and there will be a number of road closures whilst the services take place.

Therefore it is suggested you plan your journey ahead of time.
