Manchester City Council has used World Mental Health Day to raise awareness and give some tips to those dealing with stress, anxiety and depression.
They posted on X, formerly Twitter, a list of resources to support those struggling with their mental health from the NHS.
The account said: “Today is World Mental Health Day. Everyone should have the right to mental health support, and @NHS has lots of free tips and resources.”
The short clip alongside their tweet included a list of three top tips for dealing with anxiety.
The first tip was to try a short breathing exercise, whilst the second piece of advice was to learn how to manage anxious thoughts.
The final suggestion was to keep a mood diary to help control negative emotions.

The guidance comes as part of the Every Mind Matters campaign, which encourages people to get a free, NHS-approved Mind Plan.
By answering five simple questions, adults will receive a personalised action plan. The aim is to help people deal with stress and anxiety, boost their mood, sleep better and feel more in control.
World Mental Health Day this year comes as IPSO polling shows 76% of Brits say their mental health is as important as their physical health.
However, just over a quarter of the public believe their mental health is treated with equal importance by the health service.

Indeed, according to the company’s Global Health Service Monitor survey, 53% of Brits said mental health was the greatest health problem facing people in Britain nowadays, above the global average of 44%.
Mental health polled higher than cancer, obesity and drug abuse, emphasising the importance the public attach to the issue.

This data highlights the significance of having a designated World Mental Health Day but also the ongoing campaigns health authorities and local government continue to promote all-year round.
