A stash of heroin worth half a million pounds was seized from a handbag by Manchester Airport Border Force officers last week.
An estimated 13kg of the Class A drug was allegedly found when hand luggage was searched on October 3 on a flight from Pakistan.
A 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drug importation.
Kiran Noor, of Maitland Road, was arrested along with a 27-year-old man who has been released on bail.
The Assistant Director of Border Force said: “This is a considerable seizure of an extremely harmful drug and I would like to pay tribute to the vigilance and hard work of the officers involved.
“We will continue to work hard to keep our borders safe and crack down on drug smuggling.”
Noor appeared at Trafford Magistrates Court on October 4 and was charged with importation of a Class A drug. She will appear again at Manchester Crown Court on October 25.
Anyone with information about activity they suspect may be linked to smuggling should call the Border Force’s hotline on 0800 59 5000.
