Bolton mum and baby left ‘traumatised’ after gun-toting masked man frog-marches them upstairs during robbery

A mother and her baby were left ‘traumatised’ after a masked robber smashed his way into their Bolton home in the middle of the day and threatened them with a gun.

The mother, 30, was inside her home on Widcombe Drive, Breightmet, with her 10 month old baby at around noon yesterday when a man used a brick to smash through the patio doors.

After making his way into the house the masked man pointed a gun towards the terrified mother and child.

He then marched the woman upstairs with her baby in her arms and demanded jewellery and cash before ransacking the bedrooms of valuables.

He stole a gold watch, the woman’s engagement ring and a small amount of cash before fleeing over the fence in the back garden.

Detective Inspector Charlotte Cadden from Greater Manchester Police’s Bolton division, said: “This woman was terrified when a man smashed his way through the patio doors of her house.

“He held a gun towards her and her young child and marched them up the stairs and demanded money and jewellery.

“Thankfully neither the woman or her child were injured, but they have been left traumatised by the ordeal.”

The offender is described as white, about 6ft tall, of slim build and spoke with a Bolton accent.

He was wearing a black woollen balaclava and black jogging bottoms and a black long sleeved top.

“We are determined to identify the man and are asking for anyone who may have seen him before or after the break-in to get in touch with us,” Det Insp Cadden said.

“Your information could be vital to our investigation so please call us if you saw, heard or know anything.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5761 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
