A child abuser who wore a metal cage on his head is being hunted by police for historic sex abuse on a Stockport teenage boy in the late 90s.
The man, who is possibly named ‘Graham’, claimed he was a tutor in the Manchester area and wore a frame around his face due to a previous, unconnected, attack.
The victim, who was 14 or 15-years-old at the time of the incident, was sexually abused at the swimming pool of Stockport Leisure Centre and also in woodlands at Lyme Park in Cheshire, near Disley, between 1996 and 1999.
Detective Constable Matt Berry said: “Greater Manchester Police takes all reports of historic sexual abuse very seriously.
“We know all too well how painful the scars can be for someone who has suffered in silence for many years, so we actively encourage anyone who has been a victim of abuse in the past to come forward and speak to us.
“We will investigate this man’s complaint thoroughly and do everything we can to identify this offender.
“I want to stress that there is no evidence at this stage to confirm this man was a tutor, and it is possible this was merely a cover story.”
The offender has been described as white and about 50-years-old with thin curly hair and police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Constable Berry said: “We have contacted universities who have no record of any individual matching this description and it is vitally important we do not cast any unfair and unsubstantiated aspersions on tutors working in the Manchester area.
“However, we do have a distinctive description of his physical appearance so I would ask that anyone who recognises this man to come forward. We will treat all information in the strictest of confidence.”
